Making a new pair of curtains is one of the easiest and most inexpensive ways to freshen up a room. But there is an art
to making them to ensure that they look professional, which is why we have created this workshop for you so that you can confidently make curtains and understand the process from your own home.
This class is slightly different from our other workshops as due to the complexity of making the curtains, and the amount of space the fabric would take up, the workshop shows you how to make them in “miniature”. You walk through exactly the same techniques as if you were making a full-size set of curtains which allows you to leave the workshop, walk to your local fabric shop and start the process with 100% confidence you know what you are doing.
In this class, Anne Sigsworth, owner of Sophie’s Soft Furnishings, will be your instructor, and we will cover:
  • Measuring for curtains
  • Estimating fabric quantities
  • Checking, cutting out and pattern matching
  • Hems, seam allowances, and mitered corners
  • Making up
  • Attaching heading tape
  • Gathering up and hanging

Skill Level: Confident Beginner

Course Availability: Daytime

Fee and what this includes: 48.00, this includes all items needed to make your curtains (we can even lend you a sewing machine if required), coffee/tea and a home-made snack.
